Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 September 2026
This policy explains how the "Where's My Child?" app collects, stores and shares information. The app is intended for sharing location and status within a family openly and visibly — not for hidden tracking.
Who operates the app
The app is operated by its developer. For privacy, deletion or support enquiries: tomer13463@gmail.com.
Who the app is for
An adult parent creates an account and manages a family. A child connects using a temporary invitation code from the parent and uses the app with the knowledge of a parent or guardian.
Information collected
We may process account identifiers and Google or Apple sign-in details; parent and child names; family identifiers; privacy, alert and emergency settings; last location, time, accuracy and location history if enabled; safe places and events; permission, battery and network status if enabled; push tokens; and transaction identifiers and subscription status for purchase verification. During an SOS initiated by the child, or a live-audio session explicitly approved by the child, the app transmits live microphone audio to the parent's device. Audio is not recorded or stored. We do not store payment card details.
Background location
Background location runs only after the parent has enabled it, the appropriate system permission has been granted on the child's device, and the app shows the child that their location is shared. Permissions can be changed or revoked in device settings. Accuracy and update frequency depend on the device, network and settings; on iPhone, force-quitting the app may stop updates until it is next opened.
Screen Time and Family Controls
Selecting apps and enforcing screen time happen on the device through Apple's own interfaces. The app does not receive browsing content or detailed usage history. Only the family settings and requests for extra time needed to sync between parent and child are stored on the server.
Microphone and live audio
The microphone is used only when the child explicitly starts SOS or after the child grants standing permission for live audio on their device. Permission is granted once and stored locally on the child's device, so future requests from a parent in the same family can start without another approval prompt. While the microphone is active, the child sees a clear screen and indicator and can stop the transmission at any time. The child can revoke permission at any time from the Privacy screen; revocation also stops an active parent-initiated session and requires new permission in the future. Audio is transmitted live only and is not recorded or stored. The app does not request camera access or transmit video.
What we do not collect
No hidden listening or listening without the child's consent, audio recording, photography, reading of messages, hidden tracking, sale of personal information, or tracking-based advertising.
How the information is used
The information is used to show status and location to the family, for "I'm OK" and SOS, status requests, safe place alerts, the trip companion, screen time management and requests for extra time, verifying premium eligibility, storing settings and securing accounts.
Service providers and sharing
Information is not sold. It is processed only through providers required to operate the service: Firebase and Google Cloud, Google or Apple for sign-in, Apple or Google Play for purchases, Expo for push notifications, and Sentry for crash and technical error reporting. Providers are subject to privacy and security terms and are required to process information solely to provide the service. Members of the same family see information according to their role. Information may be disclosed where required by law or to protect user safety.
Retention and deletion
Information is kept for as long as it is needed to operate the service. Location history is kept according to the family's setting, typically 7, 30 or 90 days. A parent can remove a child or an additional parent, and delete the family account from within the app under Privacy → Delete account. You may also contact us by email. Deleting the app account does not cancel a store subscription.
Rights and children's privacy
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of information. A child sees that they are connected to a family and what is shared, and connects only using a code from a parent. The app is not intended for use by a child without a parent's knowledge.
The parent's role
The parent decides which children to connect, what is shared and at what privacy level, and when to stop. We provide the tools and the transparency towards the child, but the parent is responsible for having the legal authority to configure location sharing and screen time management for that child, and for informing the child in a way appropriate to their age and understanding.
We do not monitor how families use the app and do not verify the relationship between users. Using the app to track a person without authority or without their knowledge is prohibited, breaches the terms of use, and may be an offence under applicable law.
Security and data transfer
We use Firebase Authentication, Firestore rules scoped by family and role, server functions and operating system permissions. Providers may process information outside the user's country. No system is entirely immune, so keeping the device and account protected matters.
We take reasonable and accepted measures to protect the information, but cannot guarantee absolute security. Protecting the account password, device access and invitation codes is the user's responsibility. Passing an invitation code to an unauthorised person may grant them access to the family's data.
Accuracy of the information
Location, battery, network and alert data come from the child's device and the operating system, and are shown as received. They may be partial, delayed or inaccurate, and do not constitute evidence of any person's whereabouts or condition at a given time.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy; a material change will be accompanied by an updated date and an appropriate notice. For questions or requests: tomer13463@gmail.com.
